HISTORY IN
THE MAKING

OUR

LEGACY

Legacy West End is a compelling original, underpinned by a rich history as an iconic Washington locale. Owned by Tasea Investment Company and the Floyd Akers family for more than 70 years, Legacy’s land was once the site of the original East Coast Cadillac dealership, in business there from 1935 through the late 1970s.

A neighborhood fixture in the West End’s industrial heyday, the dealership served as a vital business generator for surrounding retailers and restaurants, including former local hotspot Minute Grille owned by the Ulysses (Blackie) Auger family who later became partners in the property.

Since then, the site on which Legacy stands has evolved to meet the changing needs of its audience. In its most recent iteration, the property served as an office complex with an onsite post office. Today, Legacy continues its commitment to the neighborhood—serving tradition by providing a legendary living experience for its residents—with the same post office on its ground floor. A product of an iconic past, Legacy remains true to its name offering a world-class West End DC apartment experience designed for today.
