home-safety Make sure to follow these important safety tips before you get started!
Summertime is finally here, which means we’re all dreaming about the sun, the sand and…. home improvements! All right, some of us may not be dreaming about the never-ending list of projects that come along with home ownership, but we still need to get them done. A survey by online lender LightStream, part of SunTrust Banks Inc., found that 59% of homeowners are planning to spend money on home renovation projects this year. If you’re one of the people looking to make your home a little homier, there are several things to consider before grabbing your hammer.
Do Your Homework
While some of your “to-do” items call for limited preparation, others may require significant planning, appropriate equipment and professional assistance. No matter the project, you want to make sure you’re taking proper safety precautions and prepared for each step in the process.
The internet can be a great research tool. Read the labels on all project materials, search the Web for additional manufacturer information and pay particular attention to the safety directions. The more prepared you are for your project, the safer you’ll be.
Also, know when to call the pros. Certain projects will stress the level of our expertise. It never hurts to call in an expert to help with projects like gas repair, electrical shutdowns and tree removal, to name a few.
